United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Izmir Blue
iPod

I've got a mk3 iPod 40gig and a relatively new iPod Touch. What's the best way to use these in my SE Freelander. I've seen the MP3 socket behind the handbrake console but presumably this is just for a sound signal and wouldn't charge the iPods. I've also seen a LR kit (which does charge) but costs nearly £200. Then there are various after market kits eg Dension.

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks for replies - decided to give the Belkin Auto Pilot a try - the LR system is probably the best, and if it was a bit easier to fit I might have gone for it. Why can't LR give written instructions as well for fitting - I don't find the diagrams very good.

I have one of these: Belkin Auto Kit for iPod w/ Dock Connector

It works pretty well, the sound quality is fine. The only thing it doesn't do that the LR kit does (as far as I know) is give you the steering wheel controls and on-screen text. What it does do is cost approx. £200 less Smile - particularly useful whenever Apple changes the ipod connector (as I believe they have done for the touch-screen models.)
