Battery hold down clamp

Changed battery recently and cannot get the hold down clamp to tighten up, or remove either.
Is there a special way of refitting?
Or do i have to take the battery out again and try from there.?
Battery is as steady as a rock in place. Looked at various videos but nothing specific about hold down clamp.
Thanks. Jim A

Did you install the shiny aluminum spacer?

Swapped my battery recently.

Should have enough experience by now, have had enough goes at it. Must be getting old, couldn't find the hole to screw together. Got a torch to look in the crevice. Realised I was out by a cm or so. After a rude word, it went into the correct location & was clamped down firmly. Time stopped so had to reset the clock. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

P gill. As far as I can remember I refitted exactly what I removed.
Fitted new battery couple of months ago. The clamp just turns round and round without locking.
Will not pull back out.
Is this a case of of battery removal and refitting?
As I said battery is solid. Just annoys me front end of battery cover is not clicked in. Jim A

Is the battery the correct size? The cover isn't held down by the battery, as it has its own clips. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I believe if you don't install the spacer that the rod is only partially threaded and that it will go past the nut and spin freely as you describe.

We need pictures.

Here is mine using my phone and a small torch for lighting.

Look closely you can see the spacer

Zoomed in significantly

I did remove mine for reference but I didn't take it apart because the O-ring won't survive disassembly.

Let us know.

And take a picture

Take care

Paul

I forgot to add the BOLT is a M8 x 1.25 (you could replace the long rod with a simple threaded bolt about an inch long)

To remove yours you will need to lift and turn until you catch the threads.

Good luck

Paul

Nodge, battery is. Yuasa same as before.
Will try and remove battery this week sometime.
Just annoys me that cover cannot click into place.
Not a big deal just like to have everything right.

Thats why I use Halfords to buy and change battery. I let them have the worry of replacing all the bits - Yes more expensive but amortised over say 5 years the cost becomes insignificant. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

A photo from when I last replace my battery. I can't remember which hole you put it in, the one towards the front or back.
