Throttle Body, do a search as many previous failures and ideas about replacement. Did mine a few months ago as I had heard the odd rattle on switching off.

Ok, thanks Largered for your reply. What am I looking for exactly? Leaks, breaks... I'm not overly familiar with turbo diesel engines so a bit in the sooty dark I am 2010MY 2.2 e4 (gone but, not forgotten)

Thanks YB. So does the TB makes similar noises whilst running, I thought the tell tale was a shudder when when switching off? I'll have a look at the TB posts/threads. 2010MY 2.2 e4 (gone but, not forgotten) Audi TT Roadster 3.2 DSG FFRR Westminster 4.4 TDV8 (L322) |

I only have one car not a garage full so can only be 100% accurate on what I find with that, the rest is mixed blessings of reading what others feel have happened to them plus other old experiences and if you are getting differing symptoms dig deeper.

possible alternator free wheeling pulley, you will see the belt flapping about if you get someone to rev it ,the tensioner vibrates on overrun. |

I think this noise may be related to the AC system. I have already had suspicions that perhaps the refrigerant may need topping up as the compressor was grumbling somewhat. But I have tried several 5hings but as soon as I switch off the heating/ventilation system the noise disappears. Is this a possibility perhaps? 2010MY 2.2 e4 (gone but, not forgotten)

Well it was the aircon. My brother had a friend with a FL2 and a similar noise. The stealer he took it to had him in for all kinds of parts to change, in the end the A.C. needed a regas. I did mine this afternoon and all is good.
