2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Zermatt Silver
Freelander 2 squeaky steering

Hi. New to the forums so please forgive my greenness to all things Landy!
I have recently acquired a FL 2 from a local main dealer but within 48 hours on a bit of a run out, we started getting an audible squeak when the steering wheel is turning right, even if only slightly. Noise fades only when wheel is turned to the left or when braking. Squeal does not appear when pottering around town...only on longer runs after 10-15 mins driving.
I had suspected wheel bearings but when it came back, all the dealer had done is lubricate cv joints and they couldn't replicate the noise (which they won't on a short run). Anyhow, been out on a run again today and surprise it's back again.
Dreading a series of "ping pong" between us and dealer developing.
Any ideas please as up to now have not been too bowled over by the experience.
Thanks guys.

So difficult to diagnose 'squeaks, clicking and groans', I would definitely look at the brakes for wear/contamination or partial seizure ie pads not returning.

Went back to the dealer who kept it overnight so someone could drive it home and test it...make sure the noises weren't fictional I guess. Anyhow new discs and pads on the front but went put today and hey presto the squeak has returned - rather never left. Yikes! Got a lot of miles to cover in next couple of weeks and ever so slightly concerned.
