My OEM Continential Cross Contact UHP 235/55 R19 tyres are M+S rated and are going to need replacing very soon (after 32K miles).
I have no issues with these tyres - they were fine in the few days of snow we had this year in the West Midlands and they have not let me down on the occasional muddy field/lane.

Ive had a look at all-weather tyres; Nokian Weatherproof, Michelin Cross Climate and Wrangler HP All-Weather etc but Im not sure if Id really gain enough over a summer tyre with M+S rating (eg Continental Cross Contact LX2 or Michelin Latitude Sport 3) to offset the all-weathers' having worse braking in the warm & wet (B or C vs A rating).

What does the panel think ? All-Weather or Summer tyres for year long driving 95% on-road in middle England.

PS Are all SUV tyres M+S rated ?

PPS There is too much choice with loads of variations within each brand( I wont even look at Pirelli as it gives me a headache). Jules

I went from Continential Cross Contact UHP 235/55 R19 didn't like them in the wet, had few aquaplaning moments on them then on to the Avons zx7 which are A rated for wet weather.
They do feel more sure footed than UHPs and a far better price too. Nearly all my driving is on tarmac so it seem right to get a more road base tyre. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

Honest John (Winner of Best Automotive Website, Newspress Awards 2016, 2017 and 2018) swears by CrossClimates.

I have them fitted now after 2 sets of Wranglers lasted only average miles.

Quiet enough and have felt very assured in the wet and snow. Not bothered about getting my car buried to its axles in mud so no comment on that. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Nokian Weatherproof are M+S rated as well, just switched mine out for a more summer orientated tyre and these will go back on when the clocks change again.

CJOver - did you swap out of the Nokians because they were noticeably worse than a summer tyre in warmer weather or simply because you wanted to save them for the winter ? Jules

I have Avon Rangers on mine can't fault them in any conditions.

I save them for Winter, they have been working very well in the past few weeks with all the rain but the rubber is a lot softer so when the temperature stays up they will wear much quicker.

They are marked with a snow flake embedded in the tread so they are a proper M&S tyre rather than an all seasons tyre.

Avon ZX7 too. Had them for about a year only but used in summer months. I like them as they seem sure footed and fairly quiet and I am now just waiting for a dry day to put them back on for this summer.

Pirelli Scorpion Verde 105v 235 19 all season.

These were introduced as original equipment on the Evoque, and have a good detailed tread pattern with lots of slits to disperse water. I have got a longer live than the original Continentals, and with less pronounced shoulder wear.

I use my FL2 mainly on roads, where rain is more than a problem than mud or snow.

I have read on forum about these Pirelli tyres having slightly woollier handling than some others, this may be from increased block movement, but they seem fine to me. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

I went from Cross Contacts to Scorpion Verde all seasons. If you don't need an M&S tyre the Verdes are quiet , and wear well and don't give you noise issues, not bad in the snow either!!
