FACELIFT BUMPER FITTED

well its on and went really well after watching "powerfull uk"youtube video.
next up the dynamic kit.anyone fitted one of these?reason for asking its a VERY tight fit, watched the powerfull uk vid, seemed quite simples Whistle .but fitted both sides, offered up center part seemed to be 1"short ,took it all off put the whole lot together and put o/s in place then eased the center part into place and really had to force it across to the n/s to get it to clip over the lower wing section,it is now back off due to the 3m tape losing its sticky,i have put fresh tape on for the refit tomorrow.i noticed that when they fitted it on the video the center part has 5 tabs that go into the mesh of the lower grill did not line up and they had to lever them in with a screwdriver,i have cut the bottom of these with a Stanley knife so they should allow the center part a bit of leeway.
the above does not happen in the y/tube video,it slots together reasonably well. Rolling Eyes
any one out there with some fitting advice please?
cheers

Yes its a pig to fit! The sticky tape that comes with the kit isn`t up to the task as when you get it to fit neatly at one end it pulls out of position at the other end! Even changing the tape to the best 3m tape you can get the problem remains. At the back I ended up using Sikaflex to bond it to the body and parked close to a wall so that I could use pieces of wood wedged between the wall and the spoiler kit in order to hold it in place until the Sikaflex had set At the front I again used Sikaflex and I made up 2 jigs from a length of plastic skirting board that I was able to secure in place to hold the end pieces in position until the Sikaflex had set. You have to fit the centre piece first then the side pieces as if you fit the sides then the centre part because it is so tight to get on, the centre piece will force the side pieces out of position. You have to fit the kit when you can afford to have the car parked up overnight whilst the Sikaflex sets properly. You might be able to get the kit to fit neatly using the tape that it comes with but I think that you would have to remove the bumpers to allow the flexibility and movement needed for a neat fit. You can`t achieve that with the bumpers in place and the tape just isn`t strong enough to hold while you try and position the spoiler! Good luck!

hi Dondiddy
I put it all together then offered it up from the o/side,i was able with swmbo holding it in position while I forced the n/side over the wheelarch so it snapped in,this was where we noticed that 3 of the small tabs on the center were not lining up in the mesh,so trimmed them so as to give some movement. It was also interesting that the hole they show in the bumper which is supposed to line up with the one in the kit is not on my car?so will have to drill one.also the 2 screws under the front each side dont line up with the ones in the kit are at least 20mm out,so more drilling for self tappers.
i shall have another go later as its supposed to warm up a bit,i shall also give the kit ends a good long warm up with swmbo,s hairdryer to help it flex.
Its bloody annoying when you watch the sellers "how to"video and it goes on with hardly any agro.
cheers

Hi dondiddy
still waiting for the warmer weather supposedly mid week so I can try again. Whistle
one thing I meant to mention, the 2 screws each side under the front where the plastic rain guard bit is,acording to the powefull uk vid are supposed to line up so you can fix the skirt into the existing holes mine were a good inch out,i did not get as far as looking at the center part to see if they were in line.if it comes to it I will drill new holes and fit large self tappers.
did your holes line up?also did you get your kit from powerfull uk?
cheers

Sandy, The front kit came from Powerful but I got the rear bumper spoiler as a genuine part and it wasn`t any easier to fit! The screw holes in the bottom of the front kit almost lined up and I did get them in with a bit of a struggle. If I ever did another one I think I would fit them with countersunk screws then fill over the screw heads and paint the kit after it was fitted not before or take the bumper off and use Sikaflex and G clamps to hold everything in place until it had set. I didn`t have to trim any of the tabs as the centre piece lined up ok. I have noticed a few Dynamics and the front kit is a poor fit along the top edge with large gaps. It seems that as the cars age the tape holding the kit on starts to peel away. It`s a very thin edge that has to stick which doesn`t help matters! Big Cry (P.S. Just watched the Powerful video which shows them fitting a genuine kit, If only it was that easy!)

England 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Dynamic Manual Fuji White

Hi
I have a Dynamic and my front spoiler isn't a flush fit at the tops Sad the o/s side piece had a bigger gap so i used some stikaflex to push it back to the bumper and i'll do the n/s one soon (use white instead of the black next time Embarassed ), the centre part has the tabs showing as it isn't a perfect fit either so i push it on each week? it's held on with 2 turn screws underneath so wont fall off

From new the Dynamic’s never had a perfect fit the ones in the showroom were just as bad. I was lucky with mine it’s fitted pretty symmetrical. The dealer did emphasise to JLR that I was a fussy customer when I ordered mine. The bodykits were fitted by hand at the factory. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

thanks for that, yes the y/tube vid makes it look very easy.i am not going to worry too much if the holes inder the car don't line up,as its all plastic I will just drill new ones and put less downforce on the 3m tape,i will also give it a load of heat using swmbo,s new hairdryer(her suggestion) Shocked the sika idea could also sort it so could use black and get my son to gun it neatly round the lip(he fits windows and doors for a living and will make a better job than me as he uses it all the time) Wink .
I did see one last year which looked excellent, the guy ended up fixing just below where the tape sits,by using 2 screws each side, then fitted a thin piece of flexible plastic strip over it as a finisher,it looked fine,so thats another possibility.
I will post resilt when its done.
cheers all for your input.

hi all
got a reply from Rachel at powerfull uk.she said they had not had any real issues with the kits, but did say before they did the video they had a couple of dummy runs,so there we have it.its not as easy as the vid shows ie 10-11 mins, plus as dondiddy spotted, the kit they use is genuine OEM!!.NOT THEIR OWN. Dynamic kit now on Mr. Green
looks really good in our opinion.
fitting wise I ended up assembling it up by screwing the left and right sections to the center part using 6 screws, drilled 8 holes under the kit 2 each side and 4 across the middle,so it would not come apart.swmbo pushed her side on while I guided the center bit into the mesh to hold it,the cuts I made in the mesh worked well and allowed me a bit of leeway,i then had the ease it round to the wheelarch on my side,it was very tight but the warm weather did allow a good bit of flexability.2 more scews inside each arch and job done Thumbs Up

ps
got another email from powerfull uk,and it said they were not a very good fit Shocked even though they were an exact copy of the oem version.so there we have it again!! Shocked
thanks guys for the input
cheers
