United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey
US Airways A320

The pilot of this aircraft is being hailed as a hero.

He'll no doubt say 'I was just doing my job, we get trained to deal with this' There's no doubt in my mind that he did a magnificent job putting the plane down on the river and keeping it one piece. A catastrophic double bird strike is a rare event, its great to see such an potentially disasterous event turn out like this ...

The pilot should buy a lottery ticket this weekend Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!
Company cars ... a thing of the past - May 2013.

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Stornoway Grey

Superb skills by the pilot & co-pilot. I read in the newspaper today that this is the first successfull ditching in 50 years. Funny that. I seem to recall a RAF Nimrod ditching in the Moray Firth in 1995 and floating long enough to to wait for rescue without getting their feet wet.

I assume they'll need a decent 4x4 to pull that thing out of the water again... Confused
