Reversing lights not working

As said, my reverse lights have ceased working. Been like it for about a month. The fuse had blown (number 12
under the dash) changed it but no result. The local garage can't find the fault, and even tried a new switch, but that was
not the problem. MOT was in February, and it passed that, so they were working then. Any ideas???

New lower front suspension arms fitted for MOT by the garage. Would that have disturbed anything? 2013 Dynamic Santorini black

Just wondered if the rear parking sensors are working? If not, you need to look for the fault before the lights and sensors split, if they are, look after the split.

On a previous car - Hyundai Tucson - it needed some sort of switch replacing on the gearbox when this happened . It was quite a cheap repair . Sounds similar

The mot may have been in February but who’s to say they did work then as it’s not a testable item so I’d say they didn’t work in February don’t think everything is checked on the mot test. Think you need to find a better local garage as they should have checked the feed to and from the switch before just changing, the rear park sensors work so that tells me the switch was ok before. Check the feed at the rear near the lights if it’s not there keep back tracking until you find the feed. Did the fuse pop again when replaced ?

On a previous car (Golf GTi) i had no reverse lights. I disconnected the wiring plug from the rev light switch on the gearbox and put a bit of wire into both + and - of the wiring plug and the lights came on meaning it was a faulty switch on the gearbox - a few £ later i replaced the switch which just unscrewed and job done Thumbs Up

working reversing lamps are NOT a requirement for an MOT ...........until the NEW MOT laws/Rules in May, next month.

Yes I was surprised on that fact as well. Confused

As already been said, i think a lot of people could be in for a shock the next time MOT time comes around after May 1st. My MOT is due on 7/5/18 but going in this week as i like to get it in early so if any problems there's plenty of time to sort it properly.

Just hope you don’t get a dangerous fail as it’ll not be coming back out until repaired !!

This was one of the changes in April - it is now a requirement.
