T4, yes I agree. The D3 and the FL2 do overlap to a large extend but they also have their points of excellence individually. No way the FL2 can match the low range capability of the D3. The torque converter makes up for a little bit but it is not sustainable either.
The other somewhat annoying thing of the FL2 is that it generates quite a bit of wheel spin before traction control sets in in cross axle situations which makes for a somewhat lurching forward action. The D3 is superb in that situation.
