Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Zermatt Silver

YB, nearly all the wee ferries are now gone, replaced by bridges, but you can still experience the real thing by taking the Glenelg Ferry across to Skye instead of the bridge. Well worth the slight detour, along with a chance to visit the Brochs.

Wild camping is still possible. Without a car it is even legal! With a car is slightly more tricky, and nowadays there are so many camper vans stopped in road-side lay-bys (and passing places Evil or Very Mad ) that local patience is wearing thin.

Since the grass is always greener, and I do a big mileage on wee west coast roads, my early summer trip will be South...way South, far enough to get some decent heat into the old bones after a long winter! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

I'm happy to confirm that local patience is wearing VERY thin regarding wild camping on Skye.... You should see the mess some people leave. Sad

Generally - Skye residents are friendly and welcoming to visitors - after all - it is you who are providing us with our income. If you want to wild-camp, avoid the stupidly busy places and then be friendly back... try knocking on a door or two and asking if it's OK to put your tent up in the field next door. If there's hens about - offer to buy some eggs, or at least, leave a 'thank you' note.

Call in on me if you like... Very Happy Currently enjoying:
