YB, nearly all the wee ferries are now gone, replaced by bridges, but you can still experience the real thing by taking the Glenelg Ferry across to Skye instead of the bridge. Well worth the slight detour, along with a chance to visit the Brochs.
Wild camping is still possible. Without a car it is even legal! With a car is slightly more tricky, and nowadays there are so many camper vans stopped in road-side lay-bys (and passing places ) that local patience is wearing thin.
Since the grass is always greener, and I do a big mileage on wee west coast roads, my early summer trip will be South...way South, far enough to get some decent heat into the old bones after a long winter! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto
