New autobox fitted and swirl flaps removed. Query! Problems.

Ahoy there!

Picked up our 2007 TD4 from local garage yesterday.
We had a reconditioned gearbox fitted as original broke. The garage removed the swirl flaps while they were in under the bonnet. The glow plugs + relay was replaced as well.

Two questions:
1. On the way home it was running with "reduced engine performance" for about 10 miles, then it suddenly reverted to normal power again. Was this due to the new gearbox "mating" with the ECU's?

2. The garage removed the swirl flaps, but left the rod in place. The vacuum hose was also left in place.
Should i remove vacuum hose and blank of the openings, or can it be left like this?

Cheers and all the BEST!
Magnus

Might just be coincidence. With no faults logged I'd try a fuel filter first. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Present: Audi A3 S Line.

Have you got a second earth lead fitted? If not, you need one, it can make a huge difference to reliability. Secondly, I would try a hard reset (lots of info about that on here). If all that fails, then back to the garage I think. With regards to your question 1, I doubt it, especially if the gearbox was functioning normally. Question 2, my feeling is that it should all be left in place but others will know much more about that than me! Good luck.

I'm no expert but that lot looks like the sort of stuff you get when things get disconnected for a while. They could have disconnected the battery whilst the work was being done, for instance. BUT.... they should also have run it all for a while and cleared the fault codes before giving it back to you. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Regarding Q2:-
I removed the "secondary air injection" on one of my motorcycles and you had to leave all the solenoids and such in place. Otherwise the ECU can tell it's gone and throw a fault code.
I'd leave it as they have. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Take it back to be made fit for purpose as you gave the garage an instruction to make good your car not deliver it back with added faults. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Cheers All! Bow down Bow down

Extra earth strap fitted last year.

Full ten year service last year.

She will definitely go back on Monday Twisted Evil

I'll read up a bit on "hard reset" though Thumbs Up

I am a little baffled that she goes "reduced engine performance" and yet leaves no trace when reading codes Surprised

Cheers again and all the BEST!

Hooked her up to the IIDBT tool again,
Now getting:

P2562-63 (AB) Turbocharger boost control position sensor A circuit - algorithm based failure - circuit/component protection time out.

and
P0380-00 (BB)Glow plug/heater circuit A.

The turbo cleared, but not the glow plug.
