Having looked at this the common components relating to the DTC which you have are engine Ecu, abs Ecu and instrument cluster. I would first check that there was current continuity along each wire and that the connections and their pins were tight, clean and fully engaged you can check continuity with your multimeter, ensure there is no current drop if the wires and moved, when checking.

That's why I keep asking about haldex
Is pulling the fuse out enough to eliminate haldex or I need to pull the plug of the rear diff?

You need to pull the plug

You can google search for Volvo DEM (Differential Electronics Module) this it the module mounted to the Haldex.

If you want to eliminate the DEM then unplug it

This video shows what plug needs to be disconnected

Good Luck

Paul

I reccomend that you confirm the resistance between the OBDII ground pins and the chassis

Instead of trying to find the ground point on the chassis just measure the resistance.

Note: the resistance should be less than 1 ohm

Measure Pin 4 to Chassis ground (This is the ground that Ian has been writing about)

Measure Pin 5 to Chassis ground

Here is the pin out of the ODBII

And here is the the schematic that shows the two grounds

Good luck

Paul

Not sure if we have covered this before, but look at this extract from the service manual

Engine Temperature Gage
The engine temperature gage is located in the center of the instrument cluster and is driven by medium speed CAN bus messages from the CJB. The CJB receives an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) signal from the ECM over the high speed CAN bus when the vehicle enters power mode 6 (ignition on). The needle pointer position translates to the following approximate temperatures. Engine Coolant Temperature °C (°F) Pointer PositionPetrol Diesel Ignition off Ignition off Park 40 (104) 40 (104) Cold (blue segment) 75 (167) 75 (167) Beginning of normal 119 (246) 113 (235) End of normal 125 (257) 118 (244) Beginning of hot (red segment) 130 (266) 123 (253) End of hot If the ECT signal rises above 118 °C (244 °F) on diesel vehicles, or 127 °C (260 °F) on petrol vehicles, the instrument cluster will illuminate the high ECT warning indicator.

If the instrument cluster fails to receive an ECT signal from the CJB, the engine coolant temperature gage will move to the 'end of hot' position and the warning indicator will be illuminated

This explains what is happening to your temp gauge. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

When did you have the Haldex serviced ? It has been I take it at the age of this vehicle. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

update:
Disconnected plugs from haldex- no change
Connected +12v to solenoid terminal on starter motor-engine rotated without problem.

Paul- there is continuity between chassis and pins 4 and 5 on OBDII socket, ground is ok

Ian- there are 3 faults on cluster at the moment: temp gauge to the top, revs (tachometer) zero and ambient temp not showing.
As you said, per manual all of them are transmitted on medium can bus from CJB but also for example fuel gauge is on the same bus which is ok.
CJB getting these signals from ECM on high speed bus where modules like OBDII socket or steering lock are also located.
So looks like the signals between CJB and ECM not going through. Can I unplug ECM and check connectors with battery off?

Yorky Bob - i bought the car in January last year , not sure about haldex service.

thank you
Les

Les Thanks for update.

Ambient The LH door mirror incorporates an ambient air temperature sensor that is hardwired to the ECM. The ECM is connected to the CJB and other control modules via the high speed CAN bus. The sensor provides information to the ECM that is then transmitted on the medium speed CAN bus for use by other control modules. On vehicles installed with a high-line instrument cluster, the CJB transmits the temperature signal to the instrument cluster that provides a display of the ambient temperature to the driver.

The tachometer is located on the Left Hand (LH) side of the instrument cluster and displays engine speeds of up to 8000 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) on petrol variants, and 6000 RPM on diesel variants. The tachometer is driven by an engine speed signal, which originates from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor. This signal is transmitted over the high speed Controller Area Network (CAN) bus by the Engine Control Module (ECM). The Central Junction Box (CJB) acts as a gateway
and transmits the engine speed signal to the instrument cluster on the medium speed CAN bus. The signal is received by the instrument cluster microprocessor and the output from the microprocessor drives the tachometer.

The fuel level gage is located in the center of the instrument cluster and displays fuel tank contents when the vehicle is in power mode 6. When the ignition is switched off, the pointer returns to the park position. Two Magnetic Passive Position Sensors (MAPPS) are located in the saddle type fuel tank, one on either side. The resistance values for both sensors are measured by the CJB through a series of hardwired connections. The CJB converts both values to medium speed CAN messages for delivery to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster uses the 2 CAN bus messages to calculate the total amount of fuel in both halves of the tank. The instrument cluster will also damp the total fuel value to eliminate constant pointer movement due to fuel moving in the tank.

Les, I am at a loss to explain this fault in hardware terms, I can only think that a sensor or wiring malfunction is providing a signal to one of the modules which in turn (via software) tells it inhibit these signals.
Unless of course a module is jamming one of the Bus systems, or poor connection or damage to actual Bus.

I have reproduced what the manual says, in the hope that someone on the forum can shine a light on your problem.

Hi all
After 2 weeks of fault finding and swapping dash, sensors and looms garage come to conclusion that for 90% is the central junction box fault. As the new CJB need to vin coded to the car and can't be returned, they want to charge me £1400+already labour of £400. I'm not going ahead and car car will be scrapped through diesel scrappage scheme, new car ordered.
So if anyone need some parts cheap please let me know. All the dealer want is the rolling shell with V5 on their forecourt. I'm going unbolt everything, (looking for some cheap steel wheels Smile)
Thank you for all help
Les
