United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Buckingham Blue

Thank you for all your replies, suggestions and the pictures.

I've started with the easier options:

1. Removing the rear foot heater extension tube and stuffing towels in the hole under the passenger seat to soak up excess water. There was so much that when the car was parked facing down hill, as a slosh of water would move to the front of the car and pressing the passenger front footwell would squelch!

2. Putting the nozzle of a Vax wet and dry vacuum down the same hole as the towels. This got rid of a good 500ml of water including vaxing the carpets! I was surprised. The sponge/foam backs of the carpets are still water logged so I've carried on stuffing towels under the seat to absorb as much as possible and I've been running the foot heaters at low speed and medium temp to try and gently dry out the sponge/foam. I've left the extension tube off at the minute to allow the heat to be directly under the seat.

The drivers seat is more difficult to get under but I can see liquid under there, annoyingly.

I will have time to look at the air con drain pipe myself this weekend but am not brave enough to take apart the headlining to get to the sunroof drain pipe. And to be honest, I'm slightly scared of what I might find under there!

There's nothing scary up there just best that two of you did to get the roof lining down. The fix is just pushing a pipe back on and doing what ever you thing to make sure it does not come adrift anymore.
