Here in Southern Ireland we are robbed by those in power. The road tax used to go to the local authority who’s area you were registered in. There it was meant to fix roads and help run the water system. Twas squandered badly over many years and now is shifted to Irish Water by the billions. Whole thing stinks.
And because funds are not flush I pay more to tax her every 3 months than the person who can tax a whole year in one go. So richer people get to have a nice discount!
Agree adding the tax onto cost of fuel would be a far better system. Except for all those civil office workers who would lose their jobs.....
Oh and if I want to buy a car from within the eu and bring it into Ireland I have to pay an illegal VRT tax to the government also! They pay fines every year for breaking eu rules but figure it’s cheaper than scrapping the lucrative import duty system.
