Ive just bought a Samsung Qi wireless charging pad to sit on my desk at work, and driving into work this morning i happened to notice it sit quite nicely in the front cup holder, just need run a cable to it.

the flaw in my plan is that as the phone sits flat on the charger it will fall off going round corners

do you know the price of that LR wireless charger Stuart? as i cant see it being that difficult to wire into a power source.

EDIT : OUCH!!!!
just checked and they are £170+

Ok, after a bit more investigation there's other options,

This seems more like I want especially for an upcoming retrofit completion.
I think this one is iPhone specific and cheaper "Rog"!!!

personally I wont touch Apple products with a barge pole Stuart..... cant stand the things.

its not a necessity for me t o be able to charge in the car as I normally only do journeys of couple of hours maximum anyway and I have the standard cable anyway.

Well after a lot of research I ended up going with a much simpler and cheaper alternative which frankly makes JLR’s option look out of date considering JLR’s accessory only will take up to iPhone 7 and no “+” size iPhones either. This one not only takes an IPhone “X” it will also take “+” versions also at a third of the cost of the JLR accessory
Really! You have to laugh!

I’ve been driving around with it docked for a while, no once have I touched it changing gears , be no different for manual/automatic unless you have very flamboyant gear changes......  MY15

I've unclipped the second cup holder, prefer to have the extra space in the centre.

When traveling it is a bit of a circus in there rotating between camera, torches etc on charge. On our South Australian holiday the fridge stopped working on the boot 12 volt outlet even though it is drawing only 3.5 amps typically (3.8 amps max), but the camera or torches would charge in the boot without any problems.

P.S. arm rests 75% down! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Think I’d still miss a spare cup holder when carrying a passanger. Also they double up as mobile phone holders.
