Driver’s electric seat motor

Hi all, looking for some much needed pointers.

I currently have a fault with the drivers seat backrest motor. I adjusted the seat earlier and it then stopped working completely. It wouldn’t go up, down, forwards or backwards.

I’ve checked fuse FA10 in the boot as reading another thread someone suggested this may be blown and it was. I put a new fuse in and operated the switch for the backrest, it blew straight away. I replaced the fuse again and tried moving the seat forwards and backwards. It worked.

After checking the wiring, I appear to have a short to ground when the backrest adjustment switch is pressed. I am assuming the motor is either locked or has an internal short.

My problem is that I’m not sure how to gain access to the backrest motor as my searches of the forum have turned up nothing.

Any advice is greatly appreciated on how to dismantle the seat back (if it’s possible) or whether I require a new seat.

Thanks

Ben
