Hi all I thought I would share the pics of my beloved Freelander. I live in the country and fancied a little more light on my drive. The bar itself doesn't give a huge amount extra light but is definatey enough to make a difference. I really didn't want to drill through the bumper but in the end I chose to drill through and add an aluminium strengthening plate within the bumper.

It is wired direct to the battery with a relay activated by either a switch within the cab or the main beam, this is chosen by way of a on/off/on switch sited next to the front 12v aux port.

I'm actually very happy with the look if I'm honest and it is definatey useful during nighttime journeys.

What do people think? 🤔

Yes private land only hence the switch that isolates it from the head light circuit, have seen this pic too recently but I'm not sure if Id like the full bull bar look on mine as I actually like the HST front end. Its such a shame that the hippo suffers with the Ford headlight problem. I and a Mondeo estate of the same year as my hippo and that's head lights were awful too 🤔

I've been looking at these myself but haven't got very far with it yet.

Yes totally wireless.

Can be switch both inside and outside the vehicle.

As I don't want to take any wiring through the bulkhead.

But that of yours looks neat. I assume it works in a similar fashion.

Yes that is the type I used. (momentary in and latched out)
Placed PCB in plastic box in my sleep pod.
'opened' up key fob and soldered wiring from fob PCB to LR switch bank PCB. The fob PCB is inside the switch bank.
The switch covers are the AUDI logo.

The power for the lamps is supplied by flat twin cable that runs from the under bonnet supply up the side of the windscreen along my roof rails and into the sleep pod.

You may be able to answer a question about the LED light units.
Most comprise of floods and spots, Are they wired separately or is it 'all or nothing'?

It's a little bit of lose advertising really there are 3 sections with different reflector set ups, the outside edges are the "flood"
and the centre portion are"spot" it gives a hot spot in the centre of the light beam for longer range with a wider cut off.

If you look at the front on pic you can see a slight difference to the reflector pattern. If your going through hell, keep going!

It adds a more defined wider light and slightly more length, I find the extra light to the sides useful off road to see sneeky drop offs and rocks ect. If your going through hell, keep going!
