Different rates of tyre wear

A (minor) question for you experts out there....

My 2008 TD4 Auto got through 2.5 sets of tyres over the 70k I did. The 3rd set being halfway down when I sold her. The tyres alway wore at
exactly the same rate front or back, near- or off-side.

My new SD4 Metro has now covered 23k and the fronts look likely to need replacing within 2 or 3k whereas the rears look good for another 6k+

Would this be down to the model/engine differences or just the individual vehicle?

The TD4 was on 17” wheels with Conti’s on and the SD4 is on 19” - again with Conti’s. I've decided to stop being a good example and will now just be a terrible warning.....
2008 TD4HSE - gone but much loved.
2014MY SD4 Metropolis - very much loved.

I find I get 30,000 miles from a set of tyres (Pirelli Scorpion), but the fronts wear slightly more than the rears, so I rotate them front to back on the same side of the car at 15,000 miles to even out the wear (and protect the transmission?). 2014MY SD4 HSE 18" rims.

I agree with Danny about tyre wear. I have also noticed that my FL2 was unusual in that it seemed to wear the rear brakes slightly quicker than the front.
All other cars wore the front pads out quicker than the rears, and all my FWD cars wore the front tyres twice as quick as the rears.
I do wonder if the rear brakes are being automatically put on by the various stabilisation electronics on the FL2 --- during any (ab)normal driving by me.. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

I think you find the rear pads are tiny, especially with electronic handbrake, just not big enough to my mind.

I just checked my pads on 40,000 miles and there is 5mm left on the original front pads and 5mm left on the second set of rears, changed with Land Rover parts.

Yep my halogen headlights arent too bright either! Rolling with laughter

Id be disappointed to only get 25000 out of a set of 4x4 tyres. Perhaps the road biased ones are softer compound than an AT, having said that we have got 40000 out of a set of General Grabber GT on my wife's Tiguan, swapping them front to back at about 20K. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
