roof racks without rails

Is there a brand of roof rack that fits directly to the vehicle (no rails) and does not use clamps?

If you measure the XYZ coordinates of fittings & get an engineering shop to make up some brackets it will be better quality & cheaper than any off the shelf product. Someone here has done it.

Failing that, four cross bars on the rails works very well. Pretty much the Australian procedure for all 4WD! The cheapest & lightest solution. http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic30944.html Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Before I custom built mine, I used two sets of cross bars. Problem I had was the cross bars are AERO wing shaped (banana) and do not allow my roof top tent to sit flat.
