Bulbs were original 55w (candles!) So I bought some 100w. Changed them, offside one immediately blew!

They don't use a conventional "fuse per lamp" or conventional relays, instead, there is a FET switching device for each circuit in the passenger compartment fuse box, these devices have a resettable internal protection circuit that acts like a fuse. To reset it you need to remove power to the device, the easiest way is to disconnect the battery briefly. |

Just go to Andrew Page and get a basic Osram FL2 bulb for reasonable money and accept the headlights are crap. I often use the fog lights with dipped beam. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

IMO the only therapy is for LR to admit they skimped on the design (particularly for MY13>) and for them to foot the bill to upgrade us all to Xenon systems free of charge |

Ha Ha RogB, you start the petition and I'll sign it, bloody things are rubbish. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I have no idea what wattage or bulb they sold to me, but they are at least not blowing (touch wood, fingers crossed, 4 leaf clover etc etc etc)

Lights on the DS are no better I'm afraid, so no progress from LR.

Since the consensus is that it is excess heat from the bulbs that encourages them to blow, putting in a 100W bulb will only make it worse because each bulb is a heating element based on the Wattage. I'm currently on Halfords +90% own make (made by Ring apparently). Thing is they're +90% but the same as original Wattage so no extra heat. Only time will tell how long they last but they are noticeably brighter. I managed to get a 2for1 offer. http://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs-bla...light+bulb Interesting that these "Mega" +120% bulbs have a warning that they're not suitable for the FL2. http://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs-bla...light+bulb MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE Last edited by blacktiger on 24th Jan 2018 3:31 pm. Blacktiger - is your FL2 a MY13 Facelift? the earlier models fitted with HB3 single bulbs seem to fair better with +% bulbs that the later models.
