I have one of the older Kindles and would agree that one like the paperwhite would be nice. I would not recommend using a normal tablet though. I know lots of people do it and don't have a problem, but there's something about reading a screen that isn't backlit just works much better for text for me.

I've tried reading using the app and just do not get on with the screen, whether it's a tablet or my phone. Kindles really are like reading paper. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

iPads are backlit, mine even alters its brightness dependant on ambient light conditions.
Means in the middle of the night, the screen is automatically dulled considerably, making for comfortable reading. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

That was my point Smile regardless of how dimmed the screen is, it still isn't nice for long periods of reading, compared to a book or a Kindle. In my opinion. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Don't know what the difference in a backlit Kindle is versus a backlit iPad.
They're both backlit electronic devices .....both with controllable reading software from Kindle
So what exactly do you mean by the iPad screen being "isn't nice"

The paperwhite one is very easy on the eye - no glare like on an iPad. As said, there’s only an advert when you first open it up - hust swipe it away. Haven’t seen an advert while reading. Don’t think you can have two kindles on the same login (I know why you're asking that!) but you can set up sharing with someone else. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/...=201733400 Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
