2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Narvik Black
Front windscreen washer

I went to use the windscreen washer on my vehicle this morning and nothing happened. At first I thought that I had used all the screenwash, but the back wiper/washer works. I can't hear any sound when pressing the washer button. Could it be the fuse has blown, and if so, does anyone know what the fuse number is and where it's located please?

Thanks

It`s fuse F14 which is a Blue 15amp fuse in the fuse box in the passengers footwell and can be accessed from underneath the glovebox. Thumbs Up

You say the rear washers work, if so then there is nothing wrong with the fuse. There is only one pump for front and rear window washers, it has two outlet ports and changes direction by the use of two relays, both relays are fed from the same fuse..

Thanks for the advice. Before I go and purchase a replacement indicator stalk (not new!)is there any way of testing to see if the stalk is the problem, ie can the relay be checked?

I've noticed too, that when I press the button to operate the front washer, I can't hear any pump or motor sound. I think I could hear this when there was no screenwash in the tank.

Don’t know about your model year, but my MY10 warns me (incessantly!) when I am down to about 1L remaining in the reservoir (allowing a full 5L re-fill).

I would imagine swapping the two relays over might be wise - if you can find them! It is relay 270 for front and 271 for rear, but I’ve never seen a diagramme showing the location of all the relays... Sad 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Mine is a 2008, and doesn't give me a warning.
I'll take a look underneath when the weather gets better and see if I can locate the relays.

Thanks.

I think they might be somewhere behind the carpet in the footwell, near the fuse box, but investigating relays is also one of my jobs for that mythical point somewhere in the future when “the weather gets better”! Or at least when we get a couple of consecutive hours of daylight!

I also have a deep fear of doing anything that involves plastic components during the colder months of the year, as I have snapped too many plastic bits over the years that would simply have prised apart in warmer climes! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto
