Removing Side Air Vents

Hi all apologies for starting another one of these but I’ve just had no luck whatsoever. I have a pair of gloss black side vents and repeaters for my freelander, the repeaters are simple to swap but I just can’t seem to remove the side vents! No mater what method I try I just cannot get them off.

Perhaps I’m a little worried of breaking something or pulling too hard on the side wing etc. If anyone can share their experiences with this it would be a great help!

Oh and Merry Christmas everyone!

I just pulled it away starting at the pointy bit. Once a couple of the clip in bits are free the thing comes away easily.

Have a look at the Power UK web site, they supply replacement vents and have a video that shows how to fit them.

(if the link works)

Thanks for the link! Sadly mine do not come off that easy Crying or Very sad I’ve given them a good tug, all that happens is the side panel flexes and little bit...

The are very difficult to pull off. More so than the powerful video suggests. Just pull harder.

Try this.
Spray some WD40 around the perimeter between the vent and wing, allow to soak through.
Then stand with your back to the side vent, put your hands behind your back, grab the central spar, then using the force of your arms & body, lift with a good tug upwards & outwards.

Btw, not my fault if you break anything. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Changed mine several weeks back and broke one of the clips Censored
possible due to the cold weather, so it might be worth waiting until the summer.

The method above worked for me. Need to pull them up till they start to bend then pull the bottom edge out. If you look at your new vents you will see the bottom clip location. Failing that you can remove the wheel arch liner at the back and push them out.

So I thought it would be best to wait until the warm weather has arrived, which it has... however I’m now faced with the side repeaters not budging at all 😂 swear I’m cursed.

Did anyone have a suggestion that worked? The Powerful UK videoclip makes it look very easy - which it seems to be for the nearside, but the "false" vent on the offside - which has the "blanking box" attached to the back of the vent - seems to make getting the bl**dy thing impossible to get off. I too, fear bending the wing with the use of simple brute force - as well as lacerating the fingers in the process.
