Indicator dash board light

I have updated my freelander 2 from an 08 plate to a 14 plate
Does the trailer indicator light still exist on the dash board or has this now out of date!!
It only has single electrics which needs upgrading to new 13 pin

It still exists and will be visible only if the canbus loom is used and not the smart relay.

Thanks, I will have to inform the local garage what you have told me when they wire up the plug. The 6 pin I currently have does not show the tow ligh up so assum not wired up correctly.
Thanks for your advice 👍

Just out of pure curiosity, is the trailer tell-tale a trailer icon, as it was on my Discovery 300Tdi, & Defender TD5 CSW?

Or is it, an arbitrary icon, as on my Kodiaq?

The FL2 has the classical trailer icon.

The late model FL2's have different electrical systems in some areas.

I was repairing my trailer and I thought I had some weird intermittent fault in my trailer wiring. It took me a while to realise what was going on:

But if you accidentally cause a short circuit while testing the trailer wiring or changing a trailer bulb the car will shut down the circuit to the trailer and you can't re-energise it until you have reset the system by turning the car ignition on and off. Jules

The 'Vehicle Specific Wiring'/'coding' allows the Kodiaq to give warnings like this, on the dash!

(taken before I rewired the trailer, along with new light-units)

The FL2 is not that clever - its a 20 year old design with a few newer electrical bits in the 2012 onwards - from the then Evoque Jules

Fitted the OEM 13 pin euro socket to my 13 reg HSE, car had 12N & 12S when we bought it at just under 3 years old, It was plug and play. Displays trailer light when towing and inhibits reversing sensors when caravan is hitched to the car. OEM kit was about £150 IIRC. 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep
2013 SD4 HSE The posh one for towing the caravan
1973 Triumph Stag I bought in 2009 and restored.
