Xenon Upgrade?

Has anyone upgraded the standard Xenon bulbs on a >MY13 vehicle for something like Philips X-treme Vision? I've had plenty of cars with xenon's, but the Freelander seems to be the most yellow of all.

I think that you are confusing Xenon discharge lamps which are like a continuous electronic flash off a camera with tungsten filament bulbs which have Xenon gas inside. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I'm not.

The D1S bulbs on my 2013 HSE Lux have a yellower hue, I'd guess around 4000k rather than other cars like Audi's which I'd guess were 5000k+.

So as per the above, just wondering if people have seen noticeable improvement with the Philips bulb.

the factory D1S bulb's temperature color on freelanders (and on most of ths cars with factory fitted xenon) must be 4300 K. Ans yes the New BMWs Audi and Mercedes are most around 6000 K (more blue than pure white, what you '"see" yellow.

If you want a blue color with an OEM high quality you can use one of D1S bulbs used in german cars (~ 230 Euros / bulb).

5000 K / 6000 K aftermarket bulbs at ~ 30 euros each are just rubbish IMO

I’m interested in changing my xenon bulbs in my hid lamps, was thinking of using the gen 2 Philips or the osram unlimiteds, no worries re colour, I’m more interested in light output. My hid bulbs have started to lose a little output due to age so just want to get the best I can

VAG cars come with 5200K from the factory. I would have a stab and guess Merc and BMW are the same as knowing Germany there will most likely be a common law.
Your bulbs are proably just old as they 'yellow' with age as the gas ages. I have used the philips ones on most of my cars in the past and found them to be fantastic, just don't be tempted to buy to highter K rating as you will just end up with blue headlights that look ridiculous and give out less light (above 6K the light output drops significantly, I did have a chart but can't find it now).
