United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

OK. The painted one is worth considering then. It's the same grey as mine, so wouldn't be too far out colour wise, which would save painting. It hasn't got to be perfect- the remainder of the car isnt exactly in pristine showroom condition.

Next question...
How does one remove the headlamp undertray? "We're in danger, we've got to get out."
"What are you talking about?"
"I've been called a ponce."

Not sure where or what that tray is and not coming up on my searching.

With the headlamp out and a wing off it must be easy enough to see. I assume its not part of the front end. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

From memory The front bumper needs to be removed in order to access the bolts that hold the headlight tray to the body. Big Cry The headlight unclips from the tray so if you were lucky you may be able to reuse your existing tray if it hasn`t been damaged. Headlight is removed by undoing the 2 bolts (10mm socket) on the landing panel then pulling up on the little lever at the back of the headlight. This allows the headlight to slide forward enough to be able to unplug the wiring and then remove the headlight completely. Thumbs Up

Is this it ?

Looks like you need the front off to get to that front screw but it may just be possible somehow.

Might be worth trying Camerons in York They do secondhand LR parts. They got me a door at a very reasonable price, and even fitted it for me while I went and had lunch. Chipsaway did a perfect paint job (it was correct colour, but scratches).

Yes- that's the bit!

Apparently my replacement headlamp comes with the tray fitted.
It may be necessary, as the existing one has broken plastic attached to it. Not sure which part has broken- the lamp casing or the tray... "We're in danger, we've got to get out."

Ok- I've purchased the painted part for £170.00 delivered.
It should be spot-on for what I require- hopefully the paintwork is as good as the photos portray.

Gonna be fun taking that bumper off though...
I'll double-check in the daylight but I think one of the headlamp tray clips has bust.
One clip alone may suffice, as long as the headlamp is bolted down.
We shall see... "We're in danger, we've got to get out."

Ok, well the Freelie is back together now.
After several hours of braving the Arctic gale on Friday, I released the bumper enough to swap over the headlamp tray, which was a simple enough job.
After much fiddling, the replacement wing was fitted in place, although the locating lugs needed a little straightening up, which made fitting a little awkward to begin with.
The worst bit of the job was replacing those two awkward 10mm bolts that join the bumper with the wing!

At one point the wind took my parts "tray" flying, sending bolts flying across my shingle drive.
Out of all the fittings, I only managed to lose one bolt, which holds the bumper to the bonnet catch area.
Also, one of the plastic nuts managed to lose it's thread, which meant it disappeared after the road test...

The replacement wing isn't perfect. Whilst it looked good in the photos, there was an area circled off with scrapyard marker pen, which didn't look too bad in the photos.
However, on receiving the wing, it became apparent there was a small crease/dent in this ringed-off area that didn't show up in the photos, which was a little disappointing considering I paid £170 for it.
It needs hitting with a hammer side-on because there's a bit of a gap between the wing and part of the wheelarch liner.

Anyway, I've still got a little cosmetic tidying-up to do around the bumper, but so far, the total cost for this job has been £230!
And all because some spineless idiot's bad driving...
