A thought for the OP and perhaps worth a check

My MY10 auto had a leaky injector which sprayed diesel onto the top of the engine. The 'exhaust' like fumes were very strong in stationery traffic and the fuel consumption worsened a little.

I suspect the dealer bodged the warranty repair twice - claiming to have fitted a new injector but when it went a third time we traded the car in.
