United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey
Gear selection problems.

Hi there. I have a 2007 Freelander 2 2.2 TD4. Mileage 128,00 miles with new clutch at 70,000 miles. Pulls like a train. Changing gear whether it be going up or down from 1st to 4th is intermittently a problem. Selection can be sticky where I have to either pull/push harder to select or double clutch. I reckon one in every ten changes will be a problem. When the engine is really hot on or after a long journey of 20-30 miles upwards it rarely causes problems BUT shorter journeys are. 5th and 6th never a problem. Can anyone shed some light on potentially what my problem is.

Cheers

thought I had posted a reply to this but obviously didn't. Just to say having had 1o year service done including all fluids etc, gearbox is slinky smooth with no further problems. 2007 2.2 GS Td4

I would initially say that it's a clutch problem. You say that the clutch was replaced at 70k so you have done 58k miles on it so far. Was the DMF and slave cylinder replaced at the same time?

PS Failing that we have had two FL2s with gearbox problems where they wouldn't stay in 5th, one was sold on an the other had a rebuild under extended warranty. However these problems were not intermittent. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
