Replace fixings or not

It is often recommended to swapout certain bolts when doing maintainence. Personally I do if the bolts come with whatever I am swapping out if they don't come packaged I don't bother.

I wonder if a spot of loctite on the threads of the used bolts will get around using new ones. Am I mistaken

Any thoughts on this.

Some bolts are 'stretch' bolts and you don't re-use them.

It only seems to be cylinder head bolts and brake calliper bolts that need replacing,, unless you are digging further in to the mechanics than most.

care must be takes though to ensure you are fitting the correct strength bold with the correct head type, the possibilities are varied

I remember the Cylinder head bolts on Honda CRV I had were reusable if they were under a certain length

I believe the Caliper Bolts have a nylon locking patch. It is not unknown for those bolts to be re-used . If you are going to do that thoroughly degrease the male and female threads and use the correct grade of non permanent thread lock. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
