DPF sensor rubber hose split

Hi All,

My 11 plate Freelander 2 has just been serviced and information given included that one (top) of the rubber hoses to the DPF sensor was spit. They showed me a helpful video of the split and it looks almost severed. The car is running well as is usual and I `m anxious that it doesn`t go into limp mode next week when I will be doing around a thousand miles to and fro in Scotland in the wild West with not many garages. They don`t repair the hose but replace it along with the DPF sensor at around £240 problem is they are too busy to fit it tomorrow besides the part needs to be ordered. Is it possible to guess if it will break down or will it keep on running normally? Ignorance was bliss!
Thanks,

Iain

This is covered somewhere in the forum, it's just a piece of hose but sounds like it comes as part of a kit including one of the exhaust sensors hence the expense. A LR assist guy came to me once when I had a DPF sensor problem and he noticed that the hose was perished (common fault) and muttered that if you are desperate you could wrap some insulation tape around it as a temporary measure. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Have a look on YouTube it’s a common fault that is an easy fix using a piece of fuel hose, don’t let the main dealer rip you off for £240

this is a £1 fix do not replace the Dpf pipes
just get a new piece of rubber tube and swap it out

PS Mine was split for God knows how long
car never showed any error messages and never went into limp mode

Does anyone know what travels along/through these tubes? If the car runs fine with big holes in them what's their point? MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Dpf hoses

I had mine go a few weeks back. One hose went and I replaced it with fuel hose. That lasted a week, then sods law two more split taking the sensor out too. No other choice than order the full kit from Duckworths.

I now keep a short piece of hose in the boot "just in case"

Easy job to swap the whole lot from under the car, what it does need though is dpf pressure sensor calibration through a good code reader, that's why the dealer loves to see you Big Cry

Or get a forum member to do it Thumbs Up

My DPF sensor went about 12 months ago and the car went into limp home mode - I took it for diagnosis to a local chain who rang Land Rover who advised that the DPF should be changed at a cost of £2700 + VAT. I bought a new sensor for about £100 online and had it fitted for £25 by my local independent and all has been fine for the last 12 months - Talk about rip-off Britain

Found on an old post highlighted by Dorsetfreelander - this would seem to answer your question as to what they should do BUT I don't understand why they have no effect when split Shocked

Wondering if there is a tell tale of when the DPF is in it's "self clean" mode.

Self clean

I've never known when it's been doing it. Pulling the codes only told me it hadn't been done when the sensor failed.
