Well I tow another 50kg very happliy Very Happy and would be just as happy even with more on the back.... if I ever buy another caravan.

The FL2 virtually doesn't notice the extra 1.5 tonnes behind it now and I don't imagine another 10% on top would make a great difference - there is lots of power / torque in hand!

I chose the FL2 over other vehicles to ensure I wasn't too close to 100%, though. Safety is important to me, as well!!

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't saying that any heavier would be dangerous as it is obviously not, but as mine tows it with much ease, I like things as they are. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

My understanding is, that the law stated that you are allowed to tow over 100% of the cars kerb weight, but as long as you do NOT exceed the manufacturers max tow limit. In the FL2's case 2000kg's.

Personally I would not want to do this, I tow a Coachman Amara 520/4 which has a max weight of 1454kg's, although the FL2 tows it perfectly well, I would not want to tow anything bigger.

It's all rather complicated but see http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Drive...DG_4022564
Especially if you have passed your driving test in the last 12 years

Germany 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Alaska White

I tow a Hobby 650 KFU. Its 1900kg, 2.5m wide and 8.75m long. No I don't tow it in UK before you ask. Having swapped from a Merc ML 320 CDI I was concerned. Don't worry it tows it very well. Cruise control on at 60 mph gives 21 mpg, although do tow with the auto in manual. It is very stable, but occasionally gets upset when overtaking full car transporters. Down hill I will often put it in 5th or 4th which means there is enough engine braking to hold it on long motorway decents. Being double axle no doubt helps with the stability.

Incidently the mirrors are very good, but am happy to recommend the towing mirrors I use as they fit perfectly and don't move or shake.

We towed to Croatia last summer and whatever the hill and tenp (35c) the temp gauge didn't move. We used no oil or coolant.

Enjoy. Very Happy Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys
