Any coin experts on here?

I've done some Google research already and emailed a couple of coin dealers but thought it was worth mentioning on here also. We have a couple of gold sovereigns, one from 1968 and one from 1894 which features Queen Victoria.

Initial research suggests the 1894 coin is worth approx £350 and the 1968 coin about £250. If anyone on here has expertise I'd appreciate another opinion.

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Santorini Black

A metal detectorist found 2 coins in my field, they were handed in to the coroner and actioned , the Britsh musuem bought them for £160, I got £80 so invested in a tower of London poppy.

you would have to do this are they were not lost and found, so ownership isnt in doubt

interestingly the detectorist in question got shunned by his club for being honest, despite assurances to me from the club that everything they do is above board, all finds are reported -- yeah right
the guy had wrongly estimated the value of the coins thinking we were going to get about £2k each, its a good job I didnt spend the cash in advance At work

In practice, I'd keep your expectations low - I doubt you'll get anything like £350. Unless they are rare or in mint condition, I think most sovereigns just go as bullion, and dealers will take a cut, so you'd get a bit under the scrap value - which is currently around £230 each.
