Possibly a silly question but are chicken scraps, the stuff that humans don’t eat, more valuable than whole chickens? The reason I ask is that I’ve just bought 2kg of dried chicken feet and 2kg of dried chicken necks for my dog. I thought I got a good price paying just under £40 for that lot. I could have bought a whole lot of whole chickens for that! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Whole chicken is a sales tool for supermarkets. Sell them cheap in the hope that the customer will think the whole store is good value. Then they will buy the paxo spuds and wine to go with the chicken.

70,000 chickens - that's 70,000 necks and 140,000 feet - you should whip them off first! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Yuk! I often see packets of just chickens feet in the fresh meat aisle when we are in the local supermarket in Spain and I wondered what on earth they were there for. Now I know! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto Present: Audi A3 S Line. |

I’ve often seen gizzards on the menu in France. Never fancied them though. They’re something out of the throat aren’t they? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

"Mechanically separated chicken" (the bits of carcass left over when everything worthwhile is taken off, chucked through a mincer) is turned into a slurry paste and is the main ingredient in the hot dog "sausages" the kids eat. |

They're part of the birds digestive system, the part that holds grit and used for grinding its food, I've heard it's good for protein, Not eaten any myself though. Dave DAVE. |
