The old way was to jack the car up and grab wheel top and bottom check for play then side to side and check. |

Unfortunately, noisey bearings don't always show any signs of movement in my experience. Any change of direction that alters the tone of the noise is a fair indication that it is bearings though.

Are there any ways to check for sure it's a wheel bearing ?

An engineer once said to me that the problem with wheel bearings is that when the car is on the ground the bottom of the bearing surface is taking the load and gets worn whereas when off the ground the wheel is hanging on the top of the bearing so unless you are super strong you probably won't feel it by hand. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto 5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE |

I think the engineer in question was talking about the bearing surface on the axle not the wheel. He was basically saying that you need the car upside down to test the wheel bearing by hand. 😀 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
