Hi all. 1st post
I have an Autel Maxicom MK308 scanner. I have used it today to program a spare key fob. The programming was successful and I now have 2 fobs that can start my Freelander 2 on 09 plate. The issue is, the newly programmed fob wont lock/unlock the car etc. I'm hoping it's just the fob battery that needs charging as it's never been used since buying it off ebay in January 2021.

It recharges in the car while driving take your other key with you in case you need it to lock it. Nice to see another Sheffield owner here welcome from me

Ta for the reply. Started using it today so hopfully will charge pretty soon. Maybe then it'll be able to lock/unlock etc. If not, then it's only £15 down the drain

buttons need to be up for the battery to charge - also don't know for sure but something tells me that the code to start the car is different from the code or sync required to open the car? Stewart

really ???? I mean REALLY ???

I always thought so.

I've always understood that the fob needs to be inserted in the dash with the buttons up to charge correctly, that came from a LR tech.

I seem to remember it won't latch button side down, the door lock is a different type of code, the immobiliser code operates from a pick up by the steering wheel, the lo5ck sensor I believe is in the roof. There are a couple of coding experts on here who may have your answer and know how and if it can be done. alex_pescaru will almost certainly know my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

So, my two cents.............it could be the battery is not fully charged or not providing the buttons at issue the proper voltage.
When I R $& Red my original fob batteries, I had the same issue with the spare but the issue was a bad solder joint.

As a side note, I have a Q re coding the remotes....now, this may not apply to the Autel programmer but I was under the impression with JLR SDD, you have to re-code all remotes for them to work not just the new one?
