United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

At risk of kicking off an investment debate I have a lot of investments but never in gold which is basically a speculative investment. Gold delivers no income (and few uses outside of jewellery and edge connectors) and although seen as a safe haven in times of trouble (North Korea?) it's current value at around $1300/ounce is way down on the $1800 a few years back and can vary wildly. I am all for investing for my kids but they have one big advantage over us oldies ie they have a longer timeframe and investing in good companies or unit/investment trusts will bring superior returns. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

There are quite a few free accounts that pay at least some interest. I spend half an hour each month swapping money from one account to another, which works out at quite a reasonable hourly rate. If you're prepared to switch accounts there's money to be made (I think First Direct at present give you a hundred, Nationwide give you and friend money if you persuade them to switch accounts). Most of the accounts that pay interest only take small amounts, and some of them need monthly payments, which means you only get the advertised interest rate for part of the year. Usually the attractive rates only last a year, so you then look for another one. Best accounts I have at the moment pay 6% (1st Direct regular Savings) 5% (Nationwide ditto) and 3% (Tesco and TSB regular Savings). You do need to keep a tight grip on things though, and most only pay on small deposits (suits me, I'm a poor pensioner with an expensive Land Rover habit). Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
