Should this operate with the car switched of,or should it come on when the key fob is inserted.is this using power with the car locked up.

I can click/whirr/buzz etc for a few minutes after you have locked up and walked away. It's just the throttle body resetting itself - perfectly normal UNLESS you hear an 'orrible crunching/grinding noise which means the gears have gone inside and it will need replacing. About an hours work if you are doing it yourself and about £100 for the part. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Does this mean the throttle body is permanently powered up,or just when the key fob is inserted.with this noise starting as I reconnect the battery it sounds as if it's permanently powered up and using power. |

I think it starts powering up when you either open the doors with the remote after it’s been asleep for some time or when you connect the battery. It will go to sleep anything from 30 seconds to 10 minutes or more after you lock the doors. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Sometimes they drain if you don’t double lock them as they don’t fully shut down. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Hi I always double lock after use.i read that going into the boot when it's already shut down drains the battery as it won't shut down again quickly.i just leave it on a smart charger when not in use for a couple of days.i also noted that when its on trickle charge and you open the doors there is a massive volt drop.i will time this to see when it recovers.
