On my list of "Mods that I have seen and would like to do..." Might think about doing it at the same time as I fit my reversing camera.

Edit: Just read the how to, looks much easier than I expected... Only worry is I often park close to objects so would have to be very carefull it didn't open unintentionally... Think I will stick to manual operation for now. Freelander 2, 2014 Dynamic SD4 Santorini Black

Agreed that's my worry, low roof in a underground car park, too close to a car behind/wall and its a dented boot Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

This looks a great mod Bow down

Would love to do this to,the RRS if possible Cool

Presume it just starts the boot off and the rams do the rest so if you had low ceiling you would just hold the boot down as it reached max height like you so now Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

True, but the problem I have is if I say pressed the wrong button, or key went off in my pocket and I wasn't close to the boot would push open with no regard for anything around it... Freelander 2, 2014 Dynamic SD4 Santorini Black

Agreed, a small mistake on my part and the dog would think it's birthday time playing with the traffic on the road Shocked
I'd sooner it was a deliberate act with me doing the opening.

I'm thinking of anti-trap concerns with the tailgate closing...

The springs assist opening but you still close manually Confused

The newer RRS's have electric tailgates now that open and close and I have had one on loan and I liked it but don't fancy forking out to change so this could be a cheap compromise Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Don't think it's the gadgets that are making people fat, its the car itself because its easier than walking or cycling and heaps better than public transport Laughing ______________________

I don't see this mod much of an improvement unless someone figures out a way to also close it by pressing a button

electric tailgate are slow and frustrating, just pull/lift the thin its no exactly difficult,
soft closing is nice though just shut the tailgate and watch it pull itself on the latch, especially good if the kids are asleep and your more than happy for them to stay that way. At work

But if the little ones are awake and stick thier fingers in the gap while the power 'F' type latch closes the tailgage....... Big Cry Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Good spot - I found the full thread (in Italian) is at
http://www.fl2italia.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3753

Fortunately I know some Italian but otherwise I suggest you use google's in-built translator or babelfish although the thread's photos kinda tell the tale. They suggest its an easy 15min mod.

A quick search showed the springs are available on evil bay (see item eBay Item No. 200833791666)

It's something I may do - if I ever get time Very Happy
