HSE folding wing mirrors

Hi all other HSE owners with folding wing mirrors... I have a question, in this cold weather (aka -3 in the UK) is anyone else having an issue with their mirrors either closing or opening out fully? I only ask as for the past couple of weeks mine has not handled the cold weather well and struggle to work as they have done for the past 18months?

I have sprayed Silcon grease around the opening of the mirrors hoping that would loosen things up but not? Any ideas, has anyone managed to open one of these units up to clean it out ?

Happy New Year to all !!

Thanks for any advice in advance. Cool Thumbs Up

I have had my mirrors looked at in the summer with them grinding/juddering whilst opening and shutting,

I had them looked at again when they changed my driver seat leather due to it cracking. Again a spray of grease Evil or Very Mad

Starting to judder slightly again, so I will be asking for them to be replaced next, I know afew have had them replaced due to this Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks all,

Censored yet another trip to dealer then.... think I should move house to be closer !! Had battery warning light come up a couple of times two weeks ago while travelling from Newbury to Tewksbury they could not figure out what the issue was though the computer said "Yes" an issue did occur. Also just had the preheater fitted.

Cheers for you comments !

Just spray them every couple of weeks with 3-in-1 Silicone spray. Totally soak the mechanism and they work very smoothly. Mine used to juddert and whine, but they're okay now. Bit of a pain, but does the trick - happy spraying Thumbs Up Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

Same problem a few months ago, Dealer was very good and ordered 2 new mirrors, could not explain why it happened and as the only off road I have done is a gravel car park at the pub, I don't think it was dirt in the workings
