My wife's God son has perhaps the oldest daily working grey Fergie in the country, despite having bigger machines there are still jobs where it's just the right size ! Nice beast but not what I have in mind for tractor runs in the Yorkshire Wolds. Got a couple of irons in the fire but anyone who put money into a small tractor a few years ago has done well it seems.

Went to the Harrogate show ground yesterday to the farm sale, some old tractors and silly amounts of money parting hands. I feel I should be looking for a Grey Fergie, a 35 or 135 Fergie with basic soundness to "do up". FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

When tank had its turret on the gun pointed directly down the farm lane, fabulous.

At the time apache helicopters were based about 2 miles away, they seemed to spend a long time hovering in the distant treeline probably aiming fire and brimstone in my direction.


no do not consider a model b for tractor runs I once drove it 3 miles , hated every minute of it.

I know of a Jd 4040 that the owner might sell, turn up to a tractor run in a quiet cab with AC, that will unsettle the cabless wallas , big American tractors were a decade ahead of Europe back in the day.
In the late 70s we had the only tractor for miles with such luxuries. Everyone else was running around with basically a canvas tent over their heads.

A bit like turning up in a range rover when everyone has mk 1/2 landies

Sounds doable but weight would come into it as I would need to move it around on trailer from time to time at the back of the FL2.

Had a petrol grey Fergi offered for 2K unseen in "restored" condition so I have that sort of figure in my head for one to road run in. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
