So I went on a little trip to find some clear skies without light pollution. I found myself up a French ski resort called Luz Ardiden.
Drove to the very top and stayed there overnight. Loverrrrly.

that looks a very interesting/fun road to drive in either direction.

The tarmac was fun but it got interesting when I started up the dirt maintenance tracks. Some were probably 1in2. There were maintenance crews there and they didn't bat an eyelid when I drove past. Good places to explorer the capabilities of your car.

P.S. the maintenance crews use Mitsubishi 4x4 pickups. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

we went to Austria in may 2013, fantastic to see it all without the snow

Everything went a bit pear shaped due to the European storm, half of Austria Germany etc got flooded, we ended up stuck in the hotel for 3 days due to landslides further down the valley.

we knew it had rained a LOT during night, but in the morning everything seemed OK , until we went for breakfast

waiter... "are you going home tomorrow?

us, "yes

Waiter. "think again", And who said Austians have no sense of humour

luckily the mountain sides were covered in huge diggers redesigning the ski slopes , so they simply tracked down the mountains and cleared the roads, very efficient and fortunate.

When we finally got down into the valley, everything looked pretty normal apart from a few giveaways such as farmers clearing whole trees out of fields, washed down from god knows were. At work

I was up La Mongie a few weeks ago on my bike. You wouldn't think it was July from the picture!



And this was up some other resort last year - Val D'Isere possibly. Had to try it out for size!

Not too sure it's much better on a bike SteveD. I've been up some fairly serious climbs on my Tiger but some of the stuff the Landy climbed up would have been a real challenge on the bike.

And, you can't kip in the bike if you do get to the top. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

We are off to Tignes in two weeks but going in the Disco not my Freelander.
