Help in choosing right tow electrics kit

As title says I need help. I have a 62 reg sd4 and my trailer has 7 pins. When reading on here about types of plugs, e.g. 13 pin, 12n and 12s or something like that and so not too sure what to get. What are 12n/12s plugs and why does it have 2 plugs. I now know you can get a 13 pin to 7 adaptor so when looking at 13 pin Land Rover kit it is saying is for a 2012 on but they then state that it fits chasis number (dh000000) and mine is a ch000000. I don't tow caravan just a normal trailer and a small livestock trailer both with 7 pins, basically a light board. Would I have to get this programmed still. The programming is just to turn off the rear sensors right? Marto GS Sd4 2012

I used these people - good kit at a reasonable (but still expensive for what you actually get) and they know their stuff

I still have a spare 13 pin loom for sale http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic27696.html No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Hi thanks for the link. I have looked at it and it is saying I need the loom near the bottom of the page for vehicles after October as mine was registered in November but that would mean mine is a plug and play which I don't think it is as it dones not have the the dash face lift nor signature head lights. I'll have to phone them to make sure I get the right one. Thanks again. GS Sd4 2012

In 2012 a updated Freelander 2 was introduced with new lights (with DRL's and LED rear) and a new dash. My guess is that the kit you found is for this updated Freelander 2.

Yours is probably one of the last build before the update so you probably need a different cable (Wiring Kit Sep 2006 > Sep 2012?).

Cars sold after September 2012 can still be the "old" model. My car was registered November 2012 (so after Sep 2012) but it is the "old" model (also has a ch000000 chassis number).

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that I do have the ch000000 chasis number, oh well the dearer one it is. Does anyone know if the pf jones loom has any splicing involved or is it the same as the Land Rover one just not labelled Land Rover. Thanks GS Sd4 2012

you need the 12n wiring which does the side lights, indicators, brake and fog lights.
12s does reversing lights, fridge, battery charger, internal lights and I forget the rest.
13 pin is fitter to a lot of new caravans and you can get an adaptor that joins the two 7 pins plugs to the 13 pin sockets,
I've used PF Jones as well as stated good firm but not cheap.
These may fit I know there twin but you don't have to fit both.

These are a better option

Or ask Duckwoth's (site sponsor) on here for a price. Common sense isn't very common.

AFAIK they are a straight fit as per the OEM ones - PF Jones will answer your queries for you - their tech people are very good at what they do Thumbs Up The kit I got from them is first class good quality and fitted perfectly. No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS
