Loose high level boot light

Hi all,

I noticed when cleaning the car that the high level boot light appears loose, it will move from side to side. This light is not mentioned in the owners manual. I assume it should be tight to stop water ingress has anyone had to solve a similar problem, i.e. how can I tighten it up.

Thanks 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40

to be honest they are not expensive 20-30 pounds buy a new one, and save the faf trying to reseal
the damage a leaking light can do to the door lock isn't worth the risk Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Thanks Andy,

Checked some new prices, nearer £50 to £60, will have a look at the seal first I think. 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40

You can find them on ebay or search with google. Search for part number LR014462 (red glass) or LR036355 (clear glass).

Smearing the existing foam seal with silicone grease has worked for me up to now (after having one or two new ones under warranty)

Silicone grease seems to be the most used first choice, I assume you take the light out to get to the seal to clean it first? 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40

Yep. It pops off easy enough.. You just squeeze 2 tabs (from the inside) on either side of the light on mine and it pops out
