United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame
Moor View, Modbury, South Devon

We have just come back from a great week at this adult only site in South Devon. The facilities are very clean and tidy and the site owner was very helpful and friendly. The only down side was some tight lanes to get to the site but that aside South Devon is a lovely place to see.

Nice views.
Closet I have been is Dartmoor. To get there some bustard threw me out of perfectly serviceable aircraft in the middle of the night. Sheep Rolling with laughter FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Hi Norfie,

Glad you enjoyed it.

We have booked 8 nights there in July on one of the Super pitches.

I heard that the approach is a little tight so hopefully wont meet anyone.

Any good recommendations for food, Pubs and days out?

Cheers

Tom

UPDATE

Arrived home at the weekend after a scorching hot week at Moor View Modbury.

Nice site but wouldn't return.

This is the most expensive tranquil site we have visited and the facilities were below par on other full service
pitch sites.

Our super pitch No 7 was a good size and reasonably level. There was a ledge to negotiate when reversing the caravan on to the pitch which did result in the caravan bottoming out.

The toilet block whilst very clean was tired in comparison to other sites.

There were lots of dogs on site and most people adhered to the keep on a lead rule. The dog field /walk was OK.

Just prior to us leaving the site we were notified that a dog on the campsite had Kennel cough so the dog walk and running field was off limits.

The approach to the site from the A38 is shocking. You have to negotiate approx. 4 miles of very narrow lanes. When we arrived we met about 9 transit vans and 25 cars. this meant lots of stopping for both car/van and heart!

How we avoided doing damage to our van and Freelander was a miracle.

Decided to leave on the Friday night at 1930 to avoid traffic. Big mistake the traffic was worse.

My advise would be that if you are a nervous towing a caravan or do not want lots of scratches on your Freelander avoid this site or possibly Devon because the place is full of narrow lanes.

Local pub the California Inn at California cross was nice and the food was excellent. It is also within walking distance.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Cheers

Tom

Due to the very narrow lanes to and from the site we stayed an extra night and left at 06:00 on Sunday morning. We packed everything away on Saturday so all I had to do was unplug, hitch and go and lucky enough we did not see another vehicle until we got to the A38. There is actually a Camping and Caravan club site further down the lane with a really tight 90 degree bend about 100 yards before the entrance which is totally blind.
I agree, at £33 a night for a super pitch it is a bit expensive.
