Oil leaks

Was under the car today doing an oil change and having never seen under the car before I had a wee nosey around.

I spotted a couple of points that look wet with oil and I don't know if they should and what it means as I don't know what the parts are.

Photos attached, also it looks like there's a bolt missing from one of the bits - should that have one in it?

Cheers

FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Front of car or rear?

If front it looks like transfer box - takes drive from front gearbox and turns it through 90 degrees and onto prop shaft.
known to fail in time, approx. £600 if you do the job yourself.
If rear it could be the Haldex - clutch that selects 4WD also known to die - mine never did so no idea of cost.

If in doubt talk to Austin at bellengineering.co.uk
who is a regular on this site. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

It's at the front. Would be disappointed if it is the transfer box as I had that replaced maybe 2 years ago under extended warranty. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Just dawned on me there was no oil on the plate that you remove to access underneath the engine. With oil like that on the parts would you expect it to have dropped onto the plate? FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
