United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 Sport Manual Lago Grey
2010 Sport LE Stereo

Got the car and realised I should have looked more closely at the installed ICE.

The most basic stereo I've seen on a car since my 1983 Opel Manta.

Single play CD, no mp3 play, no USB. It will Bluetooth for the phone which at least keeps me legal.

If some of the more experienced can assist with a couple of questions I'd be very grateful.

I've bought this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00JEW...&psc=1

And I'm think of buying this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XTRONS-Double-2-...2412367067

Would I be correct in thinking that if I connect the ISO Lead between the Xtrons and the car all should work ok? I'll obviosly site the aerials in the appropriate places.

Many Thanks In Advance

Bluey

Show us what radio you have, take a pic, if it's the very basic one it's easy to swap out. If it's the middle of the range one, then it hast fibre MOST links and it's a lot mor expensive. 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS

Hi Booktrunk
I have a horrible feeling about this. It's the one I've posted in the pic from the manual.

Yep, horrible feeling confirmed that is the midrange one, with all the MOST stuff.

Do you have rear parking sensors if so then need to spend quite a bit to ensure they work and other bits, I ended up spending nearly £300 on stuff. 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS

In the end i needed a kit plus one extra bit, but it works perfectly. We also spent £30 on an eBay to get a reversing camera, that works perfectly when you stick it into reverse.

https://incartec.co.uk/Pages/Product.aspx?P=4908 £229

https://incartec.co.uk/Pages/Product.aspx?P=3959 £60 <---- not strictly required, but this dims the display at night, and tells the radio when the hand break is on so you can then play with Bluetooth settings etc.. 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS

Hi Booktrunk

I'd like a head unit with built in Sat Nav so the top cubby hole will remain empty.

Does that simplify things any?

Also, the installation of the kit for keeping the parking sensors etc working. How simple/ complicated is that to install?

Cheers

If you do a search you will find a few topics regarding upgrading from midline to premium and the factory connectivity accessory for starters......
Your far better off with the at least midline rather than lo-line which really has no ability to improve other than to remove. MY15

The main problem with pre 2013 models is that all the tech including the sound systems were planned/designed pre 2006

There really wasn't the same demand, capability, or financial capacity back then to have the latest tech future proofed into the designs

The midline Alpine at least had Bluetooth for hands free, and just a Bluetooth adaptor for the aux socket is all that's needed for wireless music streaming.

Im guessing you can upgrade the speakers without too much hassle on a midline Question Question

There is USB units that plug into the MOST network so you can stream via USB and/or there is the OE LR connectivity accessory for an iPod. MY15

Hi booktrunk
Do you have the phone steering wheel control buttons? if yes are they still working with the new head unit and the inCarTec kit?

Yes I have the controls, and yes they work perfectly. This works with the £229 kit. The extra £59 cable is just for tweaking/refining the experience. 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS
