Do you really need a trolly jack. I use the standard jack it is slow but also have an extra plate for softer ground. Take some leather gloves to save your knuckles.

Maybe some useful info in myNSW holiday tread:

Leather gloves... Now that is something I Havnt thought of before!! Will probably ditch the big jack when I start loading for the trip. I love the FL2 but sometimes it seems too small. Had a RR a few years ago and loved it but it was always breaking down. Last year I had it the thing cost me £3600 in repairs! Maybe need a disco next.....

Thanks again guys. God knows how you get 240 litres in a Freelander. I am going with three girls and 4 bikes plus roofbox and I will be stacked out! Blooming battery light has started coming on now after a new alternator fitted a couple of weeks ago. Not good timing for the trip!

240 litres is easy when only 2 of us and the bikes were kept in France as were sun loungers and other holiday semi essentials, organisation can overcome all, those in the back could sit on the wine boxes, not that hard though you would have to reduce the load by the weight of the girls sitting in the back, there are some very interesting figures for the FL2 gross weight providing rear axle load is in spec and 100kph/60mph is not exceeded Whistle my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.

You dont need tools at all just the relevant AA euro card,, more room for fizzy wine then.

we came back from a french trip with 100 bottles and luggage in a Audi A3, If Id taken the mudflaps off we would have got more in, they dragged on even minor speeds bumps, never mind ferry ramps.

take two stickers le pen and macron, using the relevant on on back window of car depending on rural/town based breakdown, to get some sort of service from the Frenchies At work
