Wheel spacers

Hi all,
I have finally fitted my fl2 with bfgoodrich 245 65 17 at tyres.
Looks great and drives well.
I now wish to install spacers to the hubs.
Does anyone know if 10 mm spacers can be fitted without the need for longer bolts??????

Sorry Busman
I've been on hollybobs.

I did try to put 25mm spacers on before fitting the new BfG's.
Spacers were no good ( long story) so I took a chance and fitted tyres without anyway.
Loads of room and no problems on full lock at all.
245 65 17 falls below 2.5% increase of original tyre size and should not cause any probs with drive
other than a small discrepancy on speedo.
Looks and drives Great.

5mm will be fine (I have a couple unused if you would like them). I think 10mm might be pushing it. It means those nuts will have 10mm of empty space inside. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

It looks very nice! Congratulations

So no issues at all apart from speed difference? I'm looking to get that same size, and I was wondering if the increased size would have any impact on transmission and/or steering.

As long as increase is below 2.5% of original, tyre should cause not major issues.
Speedo is around 1.5mph different @ 70 mph according to my sat nav!
Spacers if used could cause slightly more wear on wheel bearings but nothing major.

Ride on roads is noticeably smoother than ecosaver tyre fitted by previous owner.
Only slight hum from bigger tyre tread.
Grip off road is like having spikes.
Looks great too now, not too aggressive or namby Pamby.

I am happy with the change, I might just add 10mm spacers making it 30mm wider with the tyre difference.

Thanks for the info! It's very useful.
One last question: why didn't you go for 245 70 17? I understand that size would also be within the accepted 2.5% and it would give a height lift.

As I understand it.
245 70 17

70 % of 245 = 171.5
X2 = 343
+ 431.8 (17") = 774.8

Making it 5% increase of original 737.3 (235 65 17).
