Driveline clink / dink or clonk / donk

Hi someone mentioned a drive line driveline clink / dink in my tread about diff whine.
but had no answers.so started a new tread (Hope thats ok Martin)

driveline clink / dink

I have had a similar drive line clink / dink but I would call it more of a faint clonk / donk (sort of a woody sound)
when reversing and then when pulling forward just one noise as some slack is taken up somewhere.

Plus when in France Towing 1500kg of Caravan. I came onto a motor way slip road and suddenly thought I had a flat tyre lots of banging and vibrations jumped out to check and all was ok drove off and fine ( maybe it was rumble strips). never went back to that road section again.

But a week a later I just came over a small bridge ( No caravan this time) and where it changed to normal road surface the same if not worse symptoms happened. So much so I thought the tyre had blowout and was banging the body work.
Again stoped looked drove off and fine.
Went back to same spot the next day and it was a smooth ride?? the day before was very hot, maybe the road surface had rippled ??

250 on and the car runs smooth as anything all other times not even the slightest vibration

STRANGE ANY IDEAS,

or do I have a drive shaft playing up.
its must be 35 years since I've seen a cv joint ball bearing broken

Thanks de1979

Interesting reading.
my noise is from the rear. I thought maybe n/s/r but not sure, It could well be the Haldex.
I did a diff change and new Haldex oil and filter.
I can see that the donk/click could well be the Haldex were it spines onto the diff input shaft.
On reflection I think its more there when the oil is hotter and thinner, as my noise is intermittent.
I will have to analyse it further as in HOT OR COLD
