I have never driven my car in the dark before (only got it a few days ago) but tonight I noticed that as soon as the engine is stopped the alarm indicator light starts flashing. The manual states that the alarm indicator light will come on when the alarm is set, it does not say it will start flashing when the engine is switched off. The light goes off as soon as the engine is started. I expect that I have just not noticed it in the daylight but would welcome confirmation that it is normal.

I believe the flashing light is the imobiliser showing that it is active. To put the alarm on you have to lock the car. Freelander 2 TD4 GS 2011 Manual Satorini Black (Current)

Thank you for that, much appreciated. I thought it was a daft question but I have never had a car where the light starts flashing with the key still in it so had to just check! Thanks again

Thank you for that. I knew the light was for the immobiliser but as the light flashed whilst the key was still in the car, and before the car was locked, I thought I might have a prob. Richard (Seagul1) above has just confirmed it is normal so happy days
